My alocasia silver dragon after I put her in new soil. Canât get enough of this beauty!
Hi people you may have seen me post about my pink dragon last week or so, it was treated with a. Fungicide and got rid of the spots on the new leaf, itâs been fine up until now and Iâve checked this morning, what on earth has happened, it has been near a heater (not too close) as it was attempting to unfurl a leaf and looked stuck, not sure if itâs burnt but that one black part just fell apart and itâs obviously yellowing. Since i bought it itâs been treated, cleaned, and repotted into new soil, any idea anyone?
They started crispy (I went on vacation for 5 days and came back to brown dry tips) but now feel leathery (like overwatering? but I watered them the same once I was back, I didnât try to over compensate) are they just not done with their tantrum or should I actually alter something in their care?? Environment: under grow lights for 12 hours, 1.5 feet away from warm mist humidifier (runs for 6 hours daily), on pebble tray, I let the soil dry out almost completely before watering. They also get bird sounds for 4 hours a day so they donât have much to complain about honestly. They were sold to me as a Sinuata and Dragon Scale respectively as pups, although I question if theyâre both Dragon Scale often!!
Is anyone in SoCal that would like a Silver Dragon corm? I have too many and about to just throw them out.
Okay I read that when your Alocasia drips, itâs been over watered. Iâve also read they like to be on the drier side. So I let mine dry out, past the dripping stage, then watered. Aaaaand sheâs dropping her leaves. What do they need?!
Two things. 1. Look at this new leaf! Itâs huge compared to the others đ€© 2. My other one is dropping leafs like crazy.. could it just be dropping cause itâs getting cold? Or could I be doing something wrong? Also it looks like itâs trying to push out another leaf too.
All white leaf incoming! equal parts nervous and excited đ
Can anyone tell me what Alocasia this is?
I've had this Jacklyn for a few months now. I got it with two small leaves then it pushes out these two ginormous leaves. They went from being fine yesterday to now soft and flimsy with one of them now wheeping. She has been in a self watering planter with pon since I got her. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that it's getting cooler at night. Zero signs of any pests. Thoughts?
Hi everyone, over the past year Iâve started getting into Alocasias and yesterday finally found the pink dragon and couldnât resist, it will be repotted soon and will give it a clean but can anyone help with the holes in the one leaf, it is only on the newest one, they seem to seeping a red liquid and wonât dry up, any ideas on what i can do?
What is the best care for a Maharani?
Sharing my excitement with people that will understand. I ordered a black velvet pink as a treat for my birthday. The seller gave me a free gift for my birthday of a pink polly corm. I am stoked!!! Can't wait to watch them grow
hi guys! this is my very first post ever on this site i recently bought an alocasia frydek because theyâre soooo pretty and i was ready to take on a more challenging plant. so far its somewhat okay, ive had lots of new growth and only had to cut off one yellowing leaf when i repotted. what im finding now though is that its leaning pretty far. the stems donât feel floppy or mushy, none of the leaves are yellowing and theres even a new leaf unfurling. the soil mix is regular potting soil, perlite, and peat. i dont currently have orchid bark so maybe the soil is too moist? I was also thinking it may need a moss pole or trellace but i didnt know if that was normal for alocasias. any tips and tricks are very appreciated!! thank you đ©·
I rescued this plant over a year ago. I never had an Alocasia before, but since Lowes had it in the trash, I figured why not try (plus, free plant!). It has been a learning curve... the leaves have melted away more than once from me overwatering, and it has grown back each time and forgiven me. However, at one point every single leaf died away, and I was worried that was going to be the end. I left it outside in the OR summer with my wife occasionally watering it. seeing how well it did without me really made me excited. Its cold outside, and I had to move it back in. It is reaching for the window, but Im trying to be more careful now. Any advise on this monster, I would really appreciate!!
Sheâs so underrated đ
Any suggestions?
If I chopped these two part off , would they still grow? (Elephant ear). I only have roots growing from both parts.
My imperial taro (colocasia antiquorum, aka eddoes) is producing itâs first leaf.
Posting again because I literally love her she's growing sooooo big by the day! Side note: I will be taking her out of the glass and in a bigger plastic pot ! She's been doing great in the glass but it's time for something else look at those roots !
Hey guys! New here and just got this beautiful Dawn⊠please send tips! I think Iâll repot her today and separate the plants. Soil Iâll be repotting her in will be an aroid mix with tree fern fiber, maybe Iâll add just a little soil. Thanks in advance!
