One of my favorite alocasias! š«¶ Look at that texture šš
Hi! Iām not an aficionado, but I need help from those of you who are! I think I overwatered this alocasia. It already lost one small leaf, and now the large leaf appears to be dying. I repotted it today and there are very few roots left, but whatās there looks firm and white. My questions are A) do I cut the big leaf? Maybe thereās not enough of a root system to support it?? And B) when do I water it again?? Afraid to overwater again, but itās been repotted into dry soil today and also afraid to underwater it!! I did get two corms which I am attempting to propagate so it seems there is some part of the plant that is still healthy and savable?! Also the lamp in the photo is a grow bulb so it should be getting plenty of light. Thanks in advance for help/recommendations!
I thought the Alocasia Zebrina died last year from pests. I had placed it in area near the other ailing plants when it had a couple leaves left. Yesterday, I noticed a new plant growing from the pot which was covered in lightly rooted Callisia Repens āGold Formā runners! Some soil was removed, probably by squirrels digging for food. Fortunately, they didnāt dig out the last corm. The question is whether to resurrect this from the graveyard list or consider it a new plant. š¤š¤Ø
My first corm experience! I looked into what I should do, and while I know some people hate the bottle cap method, others swear by it and I didnāt have any sphagnum moss (nor do I really want any due to unethical harvesting). Anyway, I gently peeled the outer brown layer so it looked a cream colour⦠and now itās brown again? Whatās going on here? Do I peel it again? Any insights would be much appreciated. Thank you! P.S. sorry for the crummy photo quality - though I donāt think thereās anything else you need to see?
Does anyone have a pink variegated black velvet alocasia? Iād love to see it š„°
Listen..... i need someone to invent like a metal detector.... but for mature corms š š¤£ š
Aawww zeee baby bambino ā¤ļø š she's so cute.
Hey babes, so I got this alocasia from the grocer and it was dying so I felt bad, I got it to grow a new leaf and so I cut the old one off now the new one is dying, so idk what Iām doing, it was growing strong and now itās not.. is it normal for it to do this in the winter? Will it grow back if the leaf dies? I need all the types pleaseš
does anyone know whatās on my newest leaf of my silver dragon? i want to say itās a little bit of variegation but iām not sure. it had a little bit of trouble coming out so thereās a small hole in it and itās still hardening. iāve had it for about 2 months now and check it daily, there is no sign of pest damage or pests
My imperial elephant ear āblack beautyā is producing itās second leaf. š
I accidentally bought some melos a few months ago and they've been doing well but after their last watering they've continued to get sick. It's been a while. What do you think is wrong with them and can this be salvaged? All help is appreciated
is this baby an alocasia melo? i got the mother plant from lowes a few months ago but she was only labeled alocasia, mother didnāt make it but i got 10 corms from her
I bought this beautiful Alocasia Frydek var. a month ago and itās been growing beautifully. I have it in a little green house for moisture. Today I notice this little impostor growing alone with my plant. Does anybody know what could it be? And whether I should keep it or throw away? Tia
Hey guys my mom get this babe struggling at lowes, how do I help her??
My alocasia silver dragon after I put her in new soil. Canāt get enough of this beauty!
Hi people you may have seen me post about my pink dragon last week or so, it was treated with a. Fungicide and got rid of the spots on the new leaf, itās been fine up until now and Iāve checked this morning, what on earth has happened, it has been near a heater (not too close) as it was attempting to unfurl a leaf and looked stuck, not sure if itās burnt but that one black part just fell apart and itās obviously yellowing. Since i bought it itās been treated, cleaned, and repotted into new soil, any idea anyone?
They started crispy (I went on vacation for 5 days and came back to brown dry tips) but now feel leathery (like overwatering? but I watered them the same once I was back, I didnāt try to over compensate) are they just not done with their tantrum or should I actually alter something in their care?? Environment: under grow lights for 12 hours, 1.5 feet away from warm mist humidifier (runs for 6 hours daily), on pebble tray, I let the soil dry out almost completely before watering. They also get bird sounds for 4 hours a day so they donāt have much to complain about honestly. They were sold to me as a Sinuata and Dragon Scale respectively as pups, although I question if theyāre both Dragon Scale often!!
Is anyone in SoCal that would like a Silver Dragon corm? I have too many and about to just throw them out.
Okay I read that when your Alocasia drips, itās been over watered. Iāve also read they like to be on the drier side. So I let mine dry out, past the dripping stage, then watered. Aaaaand sheās dropping her leaves. What do they need?!
Two things. 1. Look at this new leaf! Itās huge compared to the others 𤩠2. My other one is dropping leafs like crazy.. could it just be dropping cause itās getting cold? Or could I be doing something wrong? Also it looks like itās trying to push out another leaf too.
