My Zebrina. 😭 she’s my first Alocasia. In the beginning I was struggling. Only could keep two leaves on her. Now look at us. 5 leaves later. I’m like she really does like me. I can’t believe she’s 3 years old. The damaged leaf is from when she got knocked off her stand by my daughter 😭.

I just got my first alocasia today, I just finished washing his leaves off with some leaf cleaning spray as he was extremely dusty. I noticed all this browning on the edges of all the lower leaves, and all of the new leaves are about half the size of the largest ones. Is the browning something I should be worried about or is that more likely old damage from shipping/life at the store? I asked how long the plant was in the store and I was told they arrived the week before Mother’s Day. I have plenty of grow lights for him to stay in bright light all day and I know they like a chunkier soil mix than the store has it in, but I’ll get to replanting on another day.

Hello, I recently got an alocascia melo. She was thriving when I took her home but after about a week shes gotten a little droopy and a leave has started to brown. Ive got her under a growlight and in a pretty humid spot. Any ideas. Ive made sure to not overwater her and she has great drainage.

My first Alocasia! Found her in the “please save me” bin at my local big box. She has come a long way in just a week! She was droopy and so fried. I took a chance for $3 on this now thriving regal shield. Any advice would be appreciated! She’s been repotted because she was so tall she couldn’t stand on her own, she also has been treated for pests (organic mix for sensitive plants) and been fertilized with liquid fertilizer (purived). Shes in a tropical mix I make but considering partial hydro in the future once she can handle it and is not in recovery.

I was about to toss this alocasia because it was a stalk with one leaf, now there’s multiple points of new growth popping up from soil. So the naked stalk, let it be? Chop it to the soil once the growth is more established? Keiki paste?

I harvested some corms a while back and I didn’t label them - I thought it would be fun to guess! I planted a few Jacklyn’s, Polly’s, and Melos. Bottom one is clearly a Melo to me, maybe middle also. But I’m thinking the other might be a Jacklyn - see the mottled coloring? What do y’all think?!

Help! I am just about done with this plant because I have been dealing with a pest problem for several months now. Unfortunately, it’s one of my most favorite plants because it’s so beautiful, but I can’t keep it around because the pests are migrating to my other plants. I will show you a picture of the pest and what I’ve been using to control it. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really don’t want to get rid of this plant.

My recent alocasia haul! Had a variegated frydek last year that thrived all summer but died on me with pests + drop in humidity as it got cooler. This time around I’m feeling more prepared, have a humidifier set up and am feeling good about it! If anyone has some tips or advice, let me know!🤍

On Facebook marketplace, Alocasia pink Cuprea in a 2 inch plastic pot selling for $400 near me! Is this really the market price. Other private sellers near me have plants for $200 to $400! I think the most I have ever paid for a plant is $35. How many of you would pay that for a rare plant. I’ve seen others up to $600 locally. My favorite plant store has a regular selection of plants for several hundreds all the time. Just curious.

Repotted my Silver Dragon to LECA today and found 6 corms. Trying this method to see if they produce for me. Just two liners stapled together close to my kitchen window.

just got this beautiful propagation of a alocasia pink dragon today at a plant festival. i also recently got a black velvet alocasia. i want them to thrive and i was hoping someone well experienced could give me all the tips and tricks to keep them alive.
