Hello! Need help identifying what the problem could be. It has a new leaf growing so Iâm not sure if I should cut it off or just leave it. I appreciate any advice/comments đ the other little leaf seems to be perfectly fine!

A few of my favorite Alocasias
Help! Does anyone know why my dragon scale leaf is growing/facing downwards? The drooping stalk does not feel or look unhealthy and doesnât feel âdroopyâ if that makes sense. The plant seems otherwise very healthy. đ
Can someone identify what this is starting to grow out of my alocasia. Is it a root?
Question: I just recently moved my quilted alocasia and my silver dragon into fluval stratum. Both of them were showing signs of root rot. Thatâs why I made the transition. My questions are, how often should I add water? How often should I change it out for fresh stratum?
My husband (who usually knows 0 about plants) just told me this doesnât do anything and that I should just get a glass cabinet to put them in (like ok, donât tell me when to have a good time buddy đ). But now Iâm curious - do the bags over them help with humidity? Our house is 45-50% humidity usually, unless we get extreme cold temps and the furnace has to switch on. I thought this would help keep their humidity a bit higher than the ambient level in our house.
Does anyone know what kind of alocasia this is?
Is this an Alocasia Mayan Mask?
SOS, alocasia peeps. These two were rescued from the clearance aisle after a freeze. They are in my converted greenhouse bathroom, 50 to 70% humidity, warm temperatures, receiving about 250 foot candles of light. The photos show when I first got them, versus today. Did they go dormant? Or are they dying? When I first got them, I did check their roots, which were actually very healthy, so Iâm hoping this is dormancy. But of all my alocasias, black velvet and Melos hate me the most đ« so Iâm not sure. Thoughts?
hello all! wondering if anyone can help. Iâve had this large lady for 1+ years now. Have been through the cycle of winter leaf loss once already (but in a different house). This time round itâs losing a lot more leaves than before and now two of my leaves have âsnappedâ. Is it bad placement? Watering issue? This is a south facing window - when the sun shines its full sun! Any help would be appreciated đ
Can this be saved??? If so, whatâs the best option? Click on picture to see it in full. Back story: it was in a 4 inch pot. I went to check on the roots and most of them just disintegrated into the soil. Root rot, I supposeâŠ
Within the past two weeks Iâve gone from âlet the inflorescence grow, I heard itâs beneficial to the plantâ to âthis is starting to seem a bit wonky hereâ to âCUT THEM OFF STAT THEYâRE DRAINING TOO MUCH ENERGYâ Even with fertilizing, my once extremely happy alocasia is now drooping severely on all accounts, even staked up đđ I feel like Iâm failing her
My current fave thing is to buy baby plants at my nursery for $2.99-3.99, like this baby alocasia. Any guesses what kind? A worker wasnât sure as they were unpacking them and she couldnât find the list.
Went to Lowes to look for clear nursery pots and left with this baby and an airplant instead. How often do you guys wait to repot your alocasias? It also came in a self watering, but it has a long root sticking out the bottom of the pot. Iâm also curious to see if it has any corms!!
I let my alocasia flower and now itâs drooping!! Is this normal? Does it just need time to recover or am I doing something wrong?
Hellooooo!!!đ„łđ„ł I got these two beautiful plants yesterday and deep cleaned both of them (bc I saw some bugs in other plants at the store) and repotted them in their same pots (after washing of course) and you would not BELIEVE how many babies I found!! Trying different propagation methods and hoping everything goes smoothly!
I bought a healthy elephant ear from Trader Joeâs back over the summer. Long story short, I managed to slowly kill the main stalks and leaves. This was either through an accident causing physical trauma (one time I put it outside for some sun and it tipped over in the wind and a main leaf stalk broke in half.) or just poor care (waiting too long to repot it from its nursery post. When I finally did, it never developed strong roots, tipped over, and eventually died after I tried in vain to save it.) During its early time with me though when it was thriving, it sprouted this tiny little âbaby leafâ near it in the pot. In some plants like aloe it would be called a âpupâ, but not sure if the same terminology applies here. Throughout everything, only this lone leaf has survived. Iâve been leaving it in this pot for the last several weeks and while it hasnât gotten worse, itâs not gotten any bigger than this. Is this as big as itâs going to get? Should I cut my losses and start over entirely with a new elephant ear? - A newbie in over her head đ„Č
Hey guys! About a year or so ago I bought an Alocatia black velvet from either Samâs or Costco, I donât remember which, she was so lovely and one of my favorite plants by far. Dw started to not do so well and she lost all of her leaves, they just fell over so I trimmed them off. She grew back leaves, but every time they would get floppy and fall over so they would break. Now Iâm left with 2 sad little bulbs. Iâve planted them in perlite because thatâs whatâs someone recommended to me so they will establish very healthy roots, but I just donât know what to do. It makes me so sad to see her like this. If anyone has any advice or theoryâs on where I may have went wrong, please let me know!! I really want to try my best to save her!! Thank you so much!! ( pictures are before and now)
Seven leaves, one alocasia black velvet in a potđ
This is my second Alocasia! Really want to get it right this time. The first one almost died of root rot and is currently recovering. Only the tuber was left đ„č
