Birthday present to myself!!! đ nothing too âfancyâ but man does she look it!!
Hello all new to this group! Attempting to grow from corms. 18 total đŹ
hey would anyone know why my red secret would start to look like this?
My Black Velvet Alocasia is huge! She sits right in front of a south facing window, so she gets plenty of light, sheâs just tall! Her brighter leaf is just about finished coming in and is the first new growth (besides a flower that Iâve cut) since Iâve had her. Each leaf is growing in larger than the last! Since sheâs so tall, do you think she might be a hybrid of some sort? Sheâs not a Ninja, which was my original thought, because she has the characteristic Black Velvet purple underside. She was sold to me as a BV.
My Alocasia Odora âBatikâ is growing!!! Sheâs made me so nervous because she was shipped to me in Maryland from Louisiana and thus had a rough start losing about 3 smaller leaves. One leaf is yellowing now but sheâs growing three others!! Iâm so proud of her and ANY tips to get her to keep growing and getting stronger are super welcomed! Iâve never raised Alocasias through the fall/winter before. PS- the Planta app says sheâs getting too much light, but I donât think so. The light hitting her in these photos is about as bright as it gets this season, and this is at 4:45pm in early October. But if you have thoughts about that too let me know!
So much growth for my Alocasia Dragon Scale from May until now âșïž
so obsessed with my first frydek!
Doing my first bulbil prop! Of my mythic alocasia when I got her I noticed all the bulbs at her base so I immediately ran an got another. I did do some research but any tips would be greatly appreciated Using prop drops in one cup and none in another Also putting my foot in the door of propping cause Iâm on a plant buying ban
Just got my first two Alocasias! đȘŽâš Any tips or tricks to keep them happy?
I think my Maharani is dying!! I got it as a plug from orange lake nursery. Iâm not sure why itâs reverted! The first pic is when I first potted it up, the second is now. Any suggestions? đđœ
I found 13 corms in my tiny 03â black velvet đ€©
New growth on my Jacklyn đ„° as a first time Alocasia mum Iâm finding this very exciting!!
Just checking on the not so baby babies and noticing some weird things!! First Iâd like to ask⊠why do those have warts growing where the sinus is. đ€Ł cute and makes them unique but just curious! Checking out the beautiful silver dragon and spotted a sport variegation spot!?! Itâs not damage! đ the other pics are just updates! Since my last post about moving them up ! And my quilted dream popped a leaf đ„č
I love my Dragon Scale đđȘŽ
Can anyone tell me whatâs wrong with my alocasia polly? Today I noticed that she had developed some yellowing of the leaf tips and possible edema along the veins. Is this likely to be a pest or maybe overwatering? She was in a window receiving indirect sun, but I have moved her into the bathroom under a grow light to isolate. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hello all! I brought home this pretty lady about two weeks ago. Sheâs still in her nursery pot for now but Iâd like to get her into a bigger pot soon to sustain her long term. Sheâs a couple feet away from a south facing glass sliding door, so she gets quite a bit of sun (though I live in rainy Seattle so sun is a loose term here). Any recommendations for potting substrate and timeline for repotting? I have pretty much only had plants in standard potting mix before, and I know Alocasias can be finicky, so Iâm trying to give her my very best. Also, when would be a good time to repot? She doesnât seem obviously root bound from what I can see, but this nursery pot is definitely on the smaller side for a plant this big in my opinions. One last thing: She has a small, sad looking droopy leaf. Anything I can do to save it? Sheâs also put out another leaf that is unfurling at the moment.
I brought this home 3 weeks ago. As of today, there is a brand new leaf that seems to be really happy, but two of the original leaves are super sad. I have not repotted it â it came in the same pots as pictured. I placed it next to the window for good photo light, but since bringing it home itâs sat on a shelf ~ 10 feet away from a window. Help! What am I doing wrong?
My Alocasia corner âșïž it took me a while to get into these because of how picky they are. Once you master them thereâs no turning back though lol
