Just growing and growing. Does anyone know how big the blizzard gets?
i read an article saying that alocasias thrive in temps of about 77-95 or so.. is this true? has anyone had experience with keeping an alocasia under a heated mat or wrapping their pot with a âjacketâ of some sort?

My alocacia zebrina finally died. I checked out the roots and they didn't look good. From the core I pulled out these kernels. What can I do with them? Will they grow? water? ? Plant in soil? Keep in water??
I wasn't really sold on these at first, I'd just popped them on to fill out an import order. But man they are getting cool lookin
Newest leaf on my variegated Alocasia Frydek
Is this a glitch??? Typically I water my plants based on Plantaâs schedule and I havenât had any problems. Sometimes Iâm a day or two off. But today I watered all of my plants and noticed it was saying to water some of my alocasias again in 2 days. I know thatâs wrong, bc alocasias would hate me if I gave them that much water, so Iâm not going to do it, but whatâs going on?? Is this a glitch?? Thanks!
id on this? Was thinking portora
An someone help ID please? Literally got it an hour ago thought it may be a black velvet but not sure as the leaves look very round
Is this just the usual alocasia low humidity issues or is there something else I should know???
Newbie I bought an Alocasia cuprea today. I maybe should have learned about this one before buying it. Impulse! I read they are sensitive to cold and do best in a warm room, like 77 warm. I keep my house at 65 in the winter. The plant is in a warmer part of the house, but itâs maybe 68? It will get 3-4 hours of direct sun. I am seeing inconsistent info on how much light. Whatâs been your experience with temperature and direct sun? Any other advice?
In case anyone is coveting the âpurpleâ Alocasia longiloba: Iâm pretty sure thatâs not actually a different variety from the standard; the purple is just something they do when they get really high levels of light. The two photos on this post are of the same plant. The more typical looking leaf grew in a north-facing window. The purple leaf grew directly after that one, but Iâd moved the plant to a very bright grow box. From what Iâve seen, sellers are still saying the purple form needs bright light to get that color, so I donât think itâs different. Iâve had this happen with two longilobas from separate sources, so I donât think itâs a fluke. Before you shell out 10x the price for the purple version, consider getting the original and giving it lots of bright light.
I had this rooted Alocasia Mystic bulb sitting in water to help the roots develop a bit more. I noticed it smelled really bad and it was rotting at the bottom. If I had to guess I'd say it's because the container I had it in was too small. I went to rinse it off but a good chunk of the bottom was really soft and spongy and washed away. Do we think it'll survive? Any tips?
I got a wittle baby spot of sport variegation on this corm grown Polly đ„č
Does she look healthy to you? Got her on sale for $10 at Walmart and not sure why they marked her down?
Dragon scale alocasiađ€
What the heck⊠so this plant hated me at first and didnât do anything for like a year. Then she started putting out leaves and big ones, doing great! She even flowered, I cut them off after they died back, which just also happened to be right before she started looking sad. Then we got some spider mites (I think and I think I caught them quickly). So I treated with insecticidal soap this last week, moved her to a bigger pot about 4 days ago because I thought the yellowing limp leaf was a sign of root rot. (Roots are fine). Weâve had spider mites before and have never done this, usually I rinse and treat once and she is fine. First picture taken on 2/13 with the flowers. Second picture taken today. Did I make her mad? đ€Šđ»ââïž
Can someone help me confirm this ID? Is it a Silver Dragon Albo or Dragon Scale Albo? Or something else? Thank you
