Hi Alocasia lovers, Current collection fixation is on the Jacklyn. I only have one Alocasia currently - the humble Polly. I’ve avoided Alocasia for a long time, but since Polly has been stable for almost a year, I think I’m ready for another one. ?😬 If you have a Jacklyn, can you tell me about your experience with her? What issues have you encountered? What makes her happy? Thank you for your input!

I was having humidity issues with my Dragon Scale so I started using a pebble tray, haven't used one before. The water wasn't high enough to go into the pot, but this started happening and the soil is still wet after a week. I tried putting even less water but it's still happening. Is this normal or should I be doing something different?

Any Dragon Moon tips? I have one and it hates me. No pests, always dropping leaves and curling. No new growth. It’s in a terracotta pot which I’m going to change out for plastic to retain more moisture, but what else should I do? We’re annoyed with each other. Thanks!

alright everyone, i need some advice. this is my alocasia regal shield. she came from a big box store in september as a rehab, as all but one of her leaves were pretty damaged from pests. I was able to eliminate the pests (and still haven’t seen anything other than a few fungus gnats) and pruned all the damaged leaves as they died off one by one. before the last 2 original leaves dropped she decided to bloom. i let her briefly have her moment, but chopped all the blooms down soon enough as well since I want her to focus on leaves. two days ago the final original leaf was turning lifeless, so I finally chopped her. i sprayed hydrogen peroxide diluted with water on the cut stem immediately after to hopefully prevent rot, but now we are browning and starting to go mushy. there’s another large stem in the pot, as well as 3 young babies i propagated from her corms during my original repot. i’m thinking of how i manage this open cut stem in the same pot as the other healthy plants. rooting powder? sit and wait? I think the second pic is a node(?) and I know there are a couple more deeper in the soil. please give me some direction <3

Impulse bought this Baroque Sword from a Black Friday sale... I thought the leaf was just so interesting! As is usually the case with alocasias I guess, haha. It was looking pretty sad and only had one leaf. Just got back from a one week vacation and this new leaf appeared out of nowhere 🤩 my other elephant ear alocasia just put out a fresh leaf as well. I was scared to try alocasias but maybe I can do this?! Haha

What taro is this, as in what species of colcasia or alocasia it is and variety(if possible). Also the first picture is caused by the combination of purple grow light, camera flash and the reflective surface of the leaf caused by the very short hairs all over the leaf.

I potted up some philo Brasil propagations around the end of summer, and apparently a stray corm found its way into the soil lol. Now I just need to figure out what type it is! (I have a black velvet, Jacklyn, maharani, and Polly) 🧐 any guesses?

Anybody use fluval stratum with their alocasias? I’d love some advice.

Hi everyone, I’m back again with more questions about the pink dragon lol, all is looking really healthy now and has got used to its environment I believe. The past week it’s been pushing what i thought at first was a leaf, can anyone let me know what’s going on?

Hi! I’m not an aficionado, but I need help from those of you who are! I think I overwatered this alocasia. It already lost one small leaf, and now the large leaf appears to be dying. I repotted it today and there are very few roots left, but what’s there looks firm and white. My questions are A) do I cut the big leaf? Maybe there’s not enough of a root system to support it?? And B) when do I water it again?? Afraid to overwater again, but it’s been repotted into dry soil today and also afraid to underwater it!! I did get two corms which I am attempting to propagate so it seems there is some part of the plant that is still healthy and savable?! Also the lamp in the photo is a grow bulb so it should be getting plenty of light. Thanks in advance for help/recommendations!

I thought the Alocasia Zebrina died last year from pests. I had placed it in area near the other ailing plants when it had a couple leaves left. Yesterday, I noticed a new plant growing from the pot which was covered in lightly rooted Callisia Repens ‘Gold Form’ runners! Some soil was removed, probably by squirrels digging for food. Fortunately, they didn’t dig out the last corm. The question is whether to resurrect this from the graveyard list or consider it a new plant. 🤔🤨
