Repotting my Alocasia & wanted to try growing these corms. The last time I tried the corms rotted on me ā¹ļø I added perlite to the moss this time, hopefully it helps. Iāll put the lid on the container to maintain humidity & put it underneath a grow light.

I just repotted my elephant ear and I found it had over 20+ corms!!! Does anyone have any tips on how to grow them? I did a little research however not sure if perlite is the only thing you can use to grow them? Something easier perhaps (Iām a little broke and lazy lol)
My Alocasia isnāt doing so greatāit started out with 6 leaves and has lost 3! Im trying to increase the light by adding a grow light, and Iām not watering too much. Does anyone have any advice that might help me keep this big guy alive? Iāve only had him a few monthsā¦.
Hi all, Iāve had this little black velvet alocasia since October and itās very persnickety. Iāve repotted it, tried keeping it in a bag for humidity, put it under a grow light, and nothing seems to help. It grows one leaf then drops another. I water it approximately every 2 weeks and have fertilized it maybe 1-2 times since I got it. Itās in a 2ā pot in an east-facing window. Thanks!
I got this plant a couple weeks ago and itās been the most temperamental pain in the butt. Any advice on what it needs? Itās been watered and gets plenty of sun. Iāve tried putting it in a couple of places in my living room but once it started wilting it canāt seem to get better. The leaves are all pretty crispy too but the soil is wet so Iām at a loss! Thanks in advance šš»
I got this alocasia yesterday and I was wondering if anyone has any tips about this plant? itās my first one.
Can elephant ears be propogated? Feel like I just made up a word. lol. Iāve read different things and get mixed reviews. I want to know if has anyone actually tried it and has had success. My big plant that I've had since last July is dying and I feel like it's only a matter of time before it's too late so I wanted to try to save one of the leaves if possible. Thanks in advance!
Hello! My elephant ear I bought about a month ago⦠one the leaves is started to turn yellow and droop. The other ones look like itās turning as well. I originally had it next to a large window but moved it to a lower light area⦠What should I do? Help!
I need some help identifying this Alocasia! The app thinks itās an elephant ear (alocasia wentii), the leaves just looked a little more pointy to me than most elephant ears Iāve seen. This was dying in my local Loweās, but after cleaning it up some leaves are really gorgeous! First alocasia so any tips & tricks are recomended. I havenāt watered or repotted since bringing home, itās in peat moss nursery special potting. Iāve got it in quarantine with lots of windows and my aquarium lights and it seems to be perking up!
Wanted to share; Iām liking how this little setup has worked so far. ~Alocasia Silver Dragon~ š
My Frydek put out a pure white leaf I had to cut, its oldest leaf just died so I had to cut it off too. Luckily I see a new leaf with green coming in but I decided to cut a plastic cup to fit over it to boost its humidity while itās going through this tough time.
Are these corms too premature? To propagate..
I got another Alocasia!! š AND IT HAS A GROWING CORM!
I canāt tell if my baby is becoming translucent due to temperature or needing a repot? Itās watered correctly, but has not been fertilized yet since I got her in November. She has grown a lot!
Hello! Is this a root that is too shallow? Itās essentially on the surface.
The ānewā leaf on my Polly has looked like this for 6 weeks! Could the plant be dormant? Would that happen while in the middle of growing a new leaf? It currently has three great leaves. Any ideas why the new growth is stunted like this?
my first alocasia polly š¤š» i know these can be hard, any tips or tricks are appreciated!!
Curling on one side Does anyone know if this is light, water, humidity, or potentially being a newer leaf?
The one leaf left on my Alocasia Hilo died and while moving the body to the graveyard I found this.. so is the plant dormant or dead?
Please help! I got this Alocasia (I believe itās a nebula) brand new roughly three weeks ago, Iām very new to plants so itās in its nursery pot which has drainage, but roughly a week after bringing it home the tips of the leaves started to brown a little, I thought maybe it was just stress or something and I didnāt want to rush into anything. But itās been a week and a bit now and it has progressed significantly and is now on another leaf too. All my other plants are doing really well and are showing no signs of this same thing so I donāt think itās a fungus or something. Honestly Iām lost, please if anyone can give me some tips on how to care for it, and try to save it. I water it roughly every week and a bit when the soil goes dry on the top inch or so, I havenāt yet fertilised it since buying, tbh Iām following Plantaās advice with the fertilising, itās in a south facing window the sunlight doesnāt actually go any higher than that but is in the room all day so I donāt think itās been burnt and Iāve been misting it daily as Iām thinking it might be humidity as my room is quite dry but the Calathea next to it is thriving giving out big new leaves so idk. Someone please help me try to save it. P.S. Iām kinda broke so was hoping not to have to buy a Humidifier if humidity is the issue but if thatās the case then so be it.
