So I have this Alocasia Wentii (I think that’s what it is) but I’m having this issue of every time it put out a new leaf the old one will die off. I cannot for the life of me figure out why, can someone help? I have it quarantined rn just incase it has pest but it’s been a week and I have not seen anything. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and 3 of its leaves have died off. Please help.

Hi all,
I just received a few Alocasia plants. A Black Velvet, a Melo and a Mickey Mouse. I have been doing a ton of research and I’m having some confusion with humidity and light. I have read some that say north or east facing windows are great. Some say west. I am also considering artificial lighting for ease of location rather than finding a window.
For humidity, I live in Colorado where it’s pretty dry. I currently have them on a pebble dish with water, but I’m not sure that’s enough. I do have large glass vases and thought about putting a pebble dish in them with the alocasia sitting inside of them. I’m just not sure.
I am open to all and any suggestions. Humid plants are pretty new to me and I want to make sure I’m doing it correctly.

Hi guys! My friend just gave me this Alocasia and said it’s currently dormant… idk how long she has had it or how long it has gone without water. Tips on what I should do? It’s my first Alocasia so I wanna make sure I do what I can to be successful!

What’s wrong with my Alocasia dragon scale? Some spots are starting to get yellow and it is also getting a bit crispy. I mist her everyday and she gets bright indirect light. I also don’t let her dry out a-lot because I know they aren’t a fan of that. She does have a new leaf coming up so maybe this old leaf is just dying? TIA!!!

My Black Velvet has been doing amazing and has even had offshoots. In the time span that I’ve had her the previous offshoots fell off or just died, so I started taking a hands off approach. Which has been working out in my favor, because new leaves were growing and she’s even flowered a few times. However, this is the first time I’ve had the offshoot get this big and it’s bulbous. im pretty sure it’s a corm that’s formed, but I want to be certain. I would appreciate any advice on what I should do to see it actually grow.

I recently purchased this Alocasia Jacklyn and repotted it into a terracotta pot. However I feel like the pot is noticeably cold to the touch and I worry it’s going to affect the root health. Any suggestions on how to keep it warm? Or should I switch to a different pot?

Does anyone have their Alocasias in leca? HELP 😊. I transferred her about 2 1/2 months ago. She was doing GREAT! Even put out a new leaf. Last time I went to check the water level I noticed the yellow and brown, with “mushy” tips and thought I mixed my nutrient solution to strong. So I adjusted it and topped off the cache pot (filling about 1/3). The leaf with the significant “yuck”, has developed since that. Thoughts? Do you let the cache pot be DRY before you add more nutrient solution?

hey everyone! ive had my alocasia polly for about 2 months now (got her when she was about 7 months old i think) but she’s stalled a bit. she recently lost 2 (of 4) leaves and hasnt grown any new ones… the center (pictured) has been growing very slowly but it doesnt really resemble a normal leaf. does anyone know what’s going on?
for reference, i got my alocasia frydek at the same time and it’s put out 2 new leaves (and another emerging) thus far.

Help! I finally ordered my alocasia flying squid and it came in the mail last Friday and it’s already lost 3 leaves and a fourth one has begun to droop hard since this morning. It came in a 2” plastic pot in one of those little spongey plugs and some soil shoved on top. It was falling out of the pot and the plug was crumbly when I opened it so I removed the plug bits and put it in a mix of perlite, bark, peat and soil in a 2” terracotta pot and watered it. No root rot or anything, roots looked good but it’s so tiny the root system isn’t large. Watered again today, the soil was already mostly dry since it’s so small. I’ve been an alocasia killer in the past so I really don’t want to kill this little guy 😭 do yall think the lost leaves are just from travel stress? Or maybe temperature change? It did come from Florida and I’m in western PA. The day it arrived was the beginning of much colder weather here (like only hitting 70 degrees daytime and it was 45 last night). It’s inside under a grow light but we’ve had a few windows open during the day and no heat turned on at night yet since it’s August and this is weird weather. It’s still around 66-68 degrees in the house at night with windows closed. What do yall think? Suggestions? Picture with plastic pot was Friday, other picture is today. Killing an alocasia in under a week would be a record low for me 🥴

I’ve just brought what I believe is a Alocasia × amazonica polly . Does anyone know what these little spots are? Are the curled leaves due to unhappiness? I’m looking to repot to a well draining soil mix this weekend (one she’s had time to settle ) the soil was dry so I have bottom fed .

What’s wrong with my baby dragon scale? She’s becoming dry and crunchy on the side of her leaf. She gets bright indirect light and I mist her everyday for humidity. I also only water her when she is dry. She has little new growth and I don’t want it to also become brown and dry. TIA!!!

After a visit to my local plant shop (god I love that place!), buying two new plants and some GT Root Zone, the shop owner gave me all the confidence to transfer her over to pon! This is my THIRD try with this one! I bought small in the hopes that would help!!! She gave me a new leaf and her roots look GREAT!
