I FOUND A WISH LIST PLANT! The Alocasia âBlack Velvetâ⊠I found 2 of them at Walmart (of all places), repotted them together. Named one Elvis & the other Sirius. đ Any tips on keeping them alive are welcomed & very appreciated. Wish me luck! đ€

alocasia love high humidity. i mist mine multiple times a day (my room is very drafty). also, they're deep rooters, so i recommend a taller pot over a wider one. alocasia can be prone to spider mites, so watch out for those
1 gilla Thanks so much for the tips! Iâm so happy hear that about the pot because I chose a deeper planter (not very wide) not even knowing, so Iâm glad for that! I wasnât sure about misting because Iâve killed soooo many Dragon Scales from misting and leaving water on the leaves đ€Šđ»ââïž wasnât sure if the black velvet was similar and didnât like to be misted but now Iâll add it to the rotation! Ty!
1 gilla they can be temperamental depending on your area! especially if you keep them outside, if you're in a high humidity location misting should be at a minimum. i've noticed that pretty much all of my plants appreciate misting the unfurling leaves, though.
1 gilla I keep most of my plants indoors. I have a humidifier (itâs not a good one) so I still mist all of my plants regularly.
