Good morning plant friends! Does anyone mix their own soil mix for their alocasias/monsteras? If so, what are your ratios? I have an alocasia dawn and a thai constellation and I need to repot. Thanks in advance!

3/4 potting soil and 1/4 perlite.

I use Non soil aroid mix for both but it honestly depends on the rest of your conditions. If they’re not drying out fast enough (within two days for monsteras and 3-4 for some alos some prefer to stay more damp) then potting soil/pearlite might be too heavy. Sol soils makes an amazing chunky non soil house plant mix, Mollys aroid mix is very well known for pre mixed soils and is what my recipe is based on. <nepenthomancer’s non carnivorous indoor plant soil recipe> One part leca One part lava rock/pumice stone mix One part pearlite One part orchid bark/ coco chips One+1/2 part coco fiber 1/2 part worm castings 1/2 part bio char/charcoal chunks 1tbs bios nutrients 1tbs mychorrhizae/ tds billions .25ml bios prebiotic

I compulsively collect substrates that interest me lol and then eyeball mixes depending on the plant. For monsteras I like to mix bagged potting soil (Organic Mechanics brand container blend in my case), worm castings, perlite (chunky if you can find it. If you can’t, I recommend pumice or leca), orchid bark, sphagnum moss (just a bit, torn up), and a mycorrhiza supplement if you’re feeling really fancy. I don’t have an adult alocasia yet, but my starters are doing well on fluval stratum. When they get big enough, I’m planning on trying a mix of bagged potting soil, worm castings, perlite (small is fine in this case), and a bit of fern tree fiber for my fancy sprinkle here lol
