Iā€™m new to Alocasias, Iā€™ve never had this happen to one of my plants since being a more seasoned plant parent. Iā€™m stumped on why these yellowing spots are happening. repotted from nursery pot 2 months agoāœ… Well draining soilāœ… Humidity trayāœ… Is having new growthāœ… Occasionally mistingsāœ… Pot isnā€™t too bigāœ… Iā€™m guessing itā€™s humidity bc I live in a dry state. Anyone know why this happens with Alocasias? Writing this Iā€™m realizing I think I fertilize it twice already, on accident while fertilizing other plants, could this be for over fertilizing?

    this almost looks like overwatering edema to me. humidity problems affect the entire leaf, but your problems are focused on the tip of the leaves, which is characteristic of overwatering.

      Do they like to be DRY DRY before the next watering?

      you want about 1/3 of the soil in the pot to be dry. so say your pot is 8" tall, you want the top 3" of soil to be dry before you water. i've found my alocasia prefers to dry out a little bit more, i have a silver dragon in a 12" pot and i like to wait until half of it is dry. sometimes i check with a wooden dowel, but most of the time i go by weight.

    I had browning to the tips of my Alocasia & Calathea using normal tap water. Since using treated water ( similar to RO no trace elements) my plants are somewhat healthierā€¦

    I had this happen when I used regular tap water, so now I use water conditioner from the fish store. Also, when I turned the leaf over I had insects under the leaves wherever it was brown like this, not sure if the insects caused the browning or were attracted to the spots, but either way I treated for insects and the problem went away
