My first corm experience! I looked into what I should do, and while I know some people hate the bottle cap method, others swear by it and I didnā€™t have any sphagnum moss (nor do I really want any due to unethical harvesting). Anyway, I gently peeled the outer brown layer so it looked a cream colourā€¦ and now itā€™s brown again? Whatā€™s going on here? Do I peel it again? Any insights would be much appreciated. Thank you! P.S. sorry for the crummy photo quality - though I donā€™t think thereā€™s anything else you need to see?

    Do you have it under a light? Or bright window? That can cause browning of corms and roots.

      Too much light! Oh! I hadnā€™t realized. Iā€™ll move it somewhere a bit darker, but is it a bad sign? Do I need to do anything else? Thanks so much!

      It shouldn't have harm it, just keep in mind these develop under ground, so lots of light isn't necessary though. Nope, if you're doing the 'bottles cap' method, it looks fine.

    IME, corms are pretty hardy. I had an alocasia die and dug some corms out of it a long time after and they sprouted from bottle caps . I had some in a Tupperware container and forgot to water for awhile and they did fine. As long as part of it is above water you should be fine
