I have a Polly (alocasia) and it’s not the first one i’ve had but it’s not doing super well. (just like the first one) and I’m super worried it’s going to die like the last one. I actually bought planta premium not too long ago thinking it could help me manage this plant better but I still royally suck at it lol. (I’m gonna add pictures of my plants because it’s easier to do that than another paragraph) (i’ve seen a couple posts saying this kind was the easiest to take care of so i’m probably making a bunch of beginner mistakes 😭) I’d love it so much if you guys could help me figure out what’s probably going to kill it. I don’t have enough knowledge about plants in general so if you guys know about books (or anything else) i could get myself for that it be great. i have grow lights but I might return them and get better ones. I’m ready to invest my time in money in this plant because I really love it so I need some advice!

Hi, I’m new to this as well. This YouTube channel called PLANTERINA has helped me a lot. Don’t quote me on this as I just bought my polly yesterday and still learning about it, from what I was able to search is they do well in low to medium indirect light. Yours seems very close to the window. I would try moving it away a bit. Good luck:)

Agree. Watch YouTube videos to learn. Planterina, wild fern, aloha plant life, and so many others taught me a lot

I’m also new to alocasias but i have had one for several months now and it seems to love my environment! I agree with the other comment saying to put it further from a window, the sun can burn the leaves! Also try misting / pebbles at the bottom for humidity. I mist mine every day also dust the leaves with a damp towel every time i water. I’m not sure what the brown leaves are from, mine has a tiny one too and it has had it since i got it. I’m guessing yours is from too much sun ! Don’t beat yourself up about it, alocasias are tricky!

i feel like the soil is a big thing for alocasias. i have mine in half potting soil and half perlite. they are a lot happier in those than they were in just potting soil. they just retain too much water and that’s what leads to the yellow leaves and brown spots. the window ledge would be fine in a north facing window. but other directions wouldn’t be as great because they will get sunburned. keep it out of direct sunlight but in bright light and you should be good!! good luck (:

Lechuza pon works great. That soil looks dry. Do you have a humidifier?
