Evening everyone. Just a quick question as Iâm not very experienced with philodendrons. I bought this beaut today called a Florida ghost but when I look online I donât see any with the distinct variegation like the half and half on one of the leaves. So my question is, is this normal for a philodendron Florida ghost? Thanks đ
Ooh this is such a good question! I have been looking into buying one of these and theres a ton of conflicting info. Pedatum âFlorida beautyâ is the original plant. âFlorida ghostâ and âvariegated Florida beautyâ are either sports or hybrids of pedatum and squamiferum but I donât think itâs been verified? As far as I can tell young âFlorida ghostsâ can throw variegated leaves but they turn green as they age. The âvariegated Florida beautyâ is a âtrue variegatedâ plant and will actually hold onto this variegation throughout its life.

Huh that does look like a ghost, but I also havenât seen a half white leaf on a ghost đ€ Could be a little genetic blip. Theyâre related to Florida Beauty, which has more sectoral variegation like that. So maybe this oneâs a little in between the two in a way
