Hello everyone! We just got this plant and I can’t remember if it’s a philodendron or not. Planta says it’s a philodendron imperial green, is this true? Also does she look healthy? Thanks! 😊

pretty certain this is a bird of paradise — two BOPs actually, definitely not a philo 😅

7 gillningarDefinitely a BOP! They both look healthy. I recommend dividing them into two smaller pot slightly bigger than the root ball with the top of the soil near the rim of the pot. The soil could dry too slowly if the pot is too big and the soil is too low in the pot. Slow drying soil can cause root rot.
1 gillaWe did add more soil today! We didn’t have enough when we originally repotted. 🥲 But that is a great idea to separate them. Thank you! 😊
1 gillaDid you add soil on top or raised the plants so they are not buried deeper? All the sections of the ‘trunk’ that were above the soil should stay above the soil after repotting to prevent rot.
