How do you all display your larger philodendrons? My heart leaf is in a 10 inch pot and is about too heavy to continue hanging and too top heavy for a plant stand đŸ€”

    I just swirl the extra vines around the top when they dangle. It works for me since the long vines don’t rub against the edge of the planter and break from the weight. The center old leaves die from aging and loss of light. But, no one sees it. I just pull out the dead leaves at the end of the growing season. The whole thing can unwind if needed. It takes time. I use light weight chunky mix with perlite. The plant is not too heavy since chunky mix has lots of air pockets and no moss to hold heavy water. There is sufficient air circulation to dry the soil within 5 days since the vines are loosely wound. đŸȘŽđŸ€

      Do you have yours on a stand? Mines getting too heavy to hang but I prefer to keep it up high to stay out of the way of little hands. But then it makes the plant stand unsteady! lol. Guess I’ll have to go back to setting it on a table by itself as much as I love letting it hang long from the wall.

      Mine is in a plastic hanging basket. You can see the hook at the top of the photo. It’s a lot lighter than clay pots.

    It’s beautiful, you could you try a plastic pot instead of terracotta? May be a bit lighter so you can still hang it?

      My heartleaf/basil got way too heavy so I ended up having to spit her up 😭 I got about 5 different plants from it at least though lol

      I’m always concerned about root rot with plastic pots (it used to be in one) due to the high humidity area I live in. Though last time it was in a plastic pot I didn’t have well draining soil. I do now though. Makes me wonder if a self watering plastic pot may be a good solution for the weight, like you suggested, but also so I wouldn’t have to keep taking it down to water. Your heartleaf is very pretty!

      If you can find one big enough clear plastic pots are great for that reason! You can actually see when they need to be watered or if they’re still wet. I still use a moisture metre as well just in case
