hi! i got this hoya chelsea a few months ago. i loved the thick little cup-shaped leaves. she almost immediately put out this huge, thin (in comparison) teardrop shaped leaf. at the time she was in ambient, low indirect light. i gave this shelf a little grow light a few weeks ago hoping that might help her grow little cups again but look at these new leaves 🫠 is this some type of reversion? any tips to get lil cups again? i’m thinking i might just chop this vine back once the new leaves are done growing.

Hi guys. I received a fresh-ish Chelsea cutting yesterday in water. I don’t really see any roots yet (pic with dog being nosy). Can I switch it to Fluval and not confuse it? Also, I got three other Hoyas that are established and I noticed they all had beige stems down near the prop. The one in the picture almost looks like it was wrapped with mini cord or something. Is this a prop technique or a side effect of propping, or just these plants stem colors? The pic is of a Bhutanica.
My Hoya Elliptica was inside within 8 inches from a strong grow light getting 12 hours of light each day since it arrived in March. It kept putting out a long vine and dropped most of the new leaves. So, I put it outside to get direct morning sunlight, higher temps and higher humidity. I was just hoping it would put out leaves on the bare part of the vine. I checked it this morning for snails and caterpillars and found it put out a peduncle with flower buds! Found the tiny second peduncle at the back. 😍
My Hoya Bella was one of the first larger hoya I got last year. I read it was an “easy bloomer!” It was not an easy bloomer for me, though. It was an aphid magnet! It had aphid infections three times in three different colors of aphids (black, green, orange) since August. It put out one peduncle last month. It turned pale yellow and fell off yesterday!😭 I still love the foliage even without blooms. It has grown quite a lot this since August 2023 when it arrived.🪴😍

Hello all new to Hoya’s. I have recently purchased a variegated Hoya rope. The leaves are mushy. Any tips? Is it just trauma from the journey?
A mild mealy bug infestation so the secret weapon was released! 🐞 Did you know if neem oil or alcohol is used too often or too concentrated it will kill your Hoyas? Better safe than sorry! 🐞🐞🐞
I’m currently propagating this cutting in water and I realized earlier today that something didn’t look quite right. Why is the leaf starting to become pale and soggy? Is this normal?
My sweetheart bloomed! 😍 I’ve always heard Hoya blooms have a sweet scent, but I don’t smell anything with this girl. I don’t mind though, for my first experience with a Hoya, I am so happy I’m doing something right.
Any recommendations on my new Hoya? Does it look healthy, is it growing, etc.? New to the Hoya plant so any recommendations will help :)
I finally got a hoya with leaves smaller than my Hoya Mathilde. It’s a Hoya Tengchongensis that has been on my wishlist since last year. The price for them are always high. So, they are usually sold in 2-node or 4-node cuttings. I found this healthy one in my price range and it was rooted. I’ve read they don’t travel well during shipping and could drop leaves or even die on arrival. So, I avoided ordering during the hottest and coldest times of the year. I bought it in March and it arrived in great condition. I was cautiously optimistic. It did not suffer from travel stress or stress from entering a new environment. It started to put out a new branch with adorable micro leaves!😍 It’s my hoya with the tiniest leaves. I placed it next to a Hoya Mathilde and a Hoya Curtisii for size comparisons. The leaves are slightly smaller than the leaves on my Hoya Curtisii.
Wanted to share my new Hoya! Tag said krimson princess but I think it’s a queen. Either way I think she’s just so cute!
The blooms on my Hoya Noona opened up! They smell like cake batter! 😃😍 It’s also called Hoya David Cummungii. This variety has yellow flowers. There is also a pink flower variety. I got it last summer from Gardino Nursery in a buy one get one free sale. I bought it in a 4” pot for the foliage. It’s a very fast grower compared to my other hoyas. None of my hoyas bloomed last year. Six of them are blooming. The only thing changed is they are getting brighter filtered sunlight in the morning. They are in very bright shade outside from 10am. I’m using diluted liquid fertilizer with SuperThrive on all my plants. I used timed release fertilizer beads last year.
When i was on extended vacation last year my Hoya bloomed. It was at the end of bloom when I got back in October. After the two flowers died I cut off the stem which I later learned was a mistake. Since I wasn’t around when it bloomed and it was her first time, I don’t know what a flower bud looks like. Could this be one?
Here’s a cute Hoya ischnopus bloom 😊
Help Hoya friends! In your opinion, do you see any species other than Carnosa Krimson Princess (some reverted) in this big pot? Thank you!! Pardon her, she’s dusty from being outside this Spring.
When I got Sonny (Detective Carisi) he was just a couple of lonely leaves and a stem wrapped in cellophane. Now he’s got some of my favorite pretty painted looking leaves. Big and strong!
Help! My green bean Hoya has a bunch of blooms that never opened and look dry and the leaves are yellowing. Is it under watered? Not enough sun?
so excited there are so many blooms around my plant!
She bloomed for the first time yesterday! I’ve had this one for almost two years. She tried to produce a peduncle last year but it dried up or I knocked it off or something. There is another umbel further down the vine that looks like it will bloom next week maybe
