Hii everybody! It’s actually my first time posting here, so I’m a bit nervous! Anyways, I have this basil plant (it’s not in my Planta thing) that I’ve had for ~2 months. I’ve been watering it nearly every day (unless I forget!) and it’s been pretty healthy. There’s just one thing- one by one, my basil stalks keep dying. I’m pretty sure it’s not a watering problem, but I’m concerned a little. 🙁 Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!
Hi, I am new here and especially to growing edible fruits/veggies. I am trying to grow a sweet southern cherry tree in a wine barrel and haven't had any fruiting. The first year it had some blooms (very few) but not any fruit. During the winter, I brought it inside and kept it from the below 30s temperature putting it back outside when it was warmer. It has a tons of green leaves on it now but hasn't bloomed or anything. I've checked the soil pH and it seems to be at 6.5 which is recommended. Any suggestions?

I was given this sweet potato in a jar. The water was dirty, the plant was covered in aphids, and it needed some pruning. However, after potting it, cleaning it, giving it real sunlight, and consistent watering it was exploded with leaves. I would love for it to make long vines! Any more tips?

How cooked is this tomato plant; could I still transfer it to a bigger pot? A family member bought this tomato plant (Mr. Stripey is what the label says) back in April. I didn’t have a large enough pot at the time and its current one was all I could get. I’ve got this larger pot now and was wondering if I could transfer it and maybe get tomatoes.
Trying to keep the Irish rain off my tumbler tomatoes so made a makeshift shelter 🤣. It isn’t really big enough to cover it all, but I ordered a ‘pop-up’ cover that wasn’t wide enough either & couldn’t keep it because the little tomatoes, flowers & leaves were getting totally squashed 🥴 I’ll try to get a clear golf-sized umbrella which might work better 🤞
View on my porch! My herb garden is doing really well this year, fingers crossed it continues to thrive
My lettuce is getting big
First Picture is my sad cucumber plant I saved from walmart when I bought her. I didn’t think she was going to make it! Second Picture is her now 🥹 She was only transplanted once from the decrepit plastic planter she was in to this big pot she is flourishing in with her first vines coming in 🥹
Our first tomato has this black spot. What does it mean? Am I doing something wrong? I’ve never grown tomatoes before.
I found these baby birds around my garden yesterday, and I think their nest is hidden in the bushes in the front of my house. I’m not sure what species they are, but they still have their baby feathers and are too young to fly. But they are very cute, they’re named Hippity and Hop.
When you live in a city, and you live on a street where your house gets little to no morning Sun, but plenty of afternoon Sun, it becomes difficult to grow many things. Most plants love and need morning Sun in order to establish and bloom. Because of that I stay away from “needs time to grow” types of plants. Tomato’s are a summer favorite no matter where you are. And there are so many options of tomato’s and tomato plants to choose from. For myself the cherry tomato is always the best choice to make. If I want a sandwich with tomatoes then I just halve a few cherry tomatoes and place them on the sandwich. If I want a tomato onion salad, or any summer salad with tomatoes then I leave them whole or slice them up. One “ready to go” cherry tomato plant, no short starter plant, will produce about 5 to 10 small baskets of tomatoes from May until November. Every morning its soil gets soaked because every afternoon, while tied to my front door railing, there will be 100% scorching sun. This is the 5th year, maybe 6th, where I grow food on my Philadelphia sidewalk. I also do bell peppers this way. Public: Aren’t you worried someone will steal? Me: I do not live in fear worrying about people who are hungry or homeless stealing to feed themselves. While the plat is bungee corded to the railing, that is to prevent the wind from storms from blowing it over. Public: I wish I could do that at my place. Me: Why can’t you? Why haven’t you? Just do it. You may have others do the same thing. If Property manager or apartment managers say it’s a no no, after you’ve already placed a plant, then ask them where the plant(s) can go to help residents with food costs. After all the local press like to hear of good stories versus bad stories.
Hi, this is my first post on this app and im working on my very first plant. I have a sweet mint plant I got his name is Jeremy. I'm wanting to grow and harvest my own mint for tea. I would love some advice and tips about the best way to grow Jeremy to get that result. I am very much new and know only that water and some sunshine is good but not full sun. (If I'm wrong please correct me!)
