Hi! Iām new here and new to growing food. Iām wondering if I can combine some different edible plants in the same pot for the next year or so (when I plan on moving). I want to grow more of my own food but in terms of sunnier locations I just have an apartment walkway garden with very limited space. Yesterday, I repotted a fig (brown turkey), semi-dwarf eureka lemon, and dwarf black mulberry tree up from 5 gallon pots into these giant pots that are 14.5 inches across and 16 inches deep. Iām wondering if I can plant some other veggies, herbs, or edible flowers around the base of these trees to make use of the extra space without encroaching upon the growth of the tree roots. Iām planning on moving to somewhere with more outdoor space after a year and could remove and repot the other plants then. Regarding potential candidates: Iāve been sprouting heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, fennel, lettuce, Armenian cucumbers, spearmint, basil, oregano, sage, violets, calendulas, bee balm, lavender, chamomile, honeysuckle, and baby mulberry trees. I also have a strawberry plant. Would any of these work as potential pot-mates? Iām very open to other co-growing suggestions, especially vegetables.
I grew potatoes for the first time!š„
I have a new dwarf Meyer lemon tree in a pot and am experiencing premature yellowing of some of the lemons on my tree. Any ideas on what I can do to stop this?
Put some scallions and onions seeds in a pot late April. No action. One is on the balcony and one is in my apartment. Anyone know what could be up?
Anyone have any experience sprouting rosemary? I have seeds I bought and its summer, I want a herb for my room, I do of course have access to full sun. Only problem is if it is too much trouble to even get one to sprout⦠I know Perennials are the hardest to grow and I dont even know if I have gotten some progress in sprouting some, I tried the paper towel ziplock method with a little hydrogen peroxide for mold in the fridge to stratify since it is perennial and so far its been unnoticable if I have gotten a sprout, kinda just waiting now. I live in Texas and I have seen them grow into really inpressive bushes before in my childhood, I would just like to be able to get started on that path at the very least. Any plant starting advice is appreciated, and if I am just doing too much I would love to be let known, thanks!! Before the rosemary, I was able to sprout a basil plant however from a couple seeds which is exciting.
My loaded habanero plant. Weāve been making hot sauce with these peppers.
