What a summer! Rain rain rain! It triggered massive growth in the gardens. I planted 600 corn seeds in a small 15x5 pit. Cut back 50 as they reached 6”. Cut back another 50 a week later. Ended up keeping 400 stalks. Worried the corn would be small and underdeveloped but my worries have been relieved. THIS IS THE SWEETEST CORN! Small tender tasting beautifully pollinated ears. Patting myself on the back for this one! Also don’t let anyone tell you crowded gardens are bad. Nonsense. Here’s to a real corn harvest!

Beautiful baby kumquats! My tree is tiny, but making a good effort. They should be ready in November.

Every morning I walk out my back door to see what we can use for our diets that day. This morning? Beautiful green onions and purple potatoes. Purple potatoes are delicate and slightly sweeter than normal potatoes. Flesh is bright white so the contrast is brilliant. Livens up any plate. Happy gardening! Hope your harvests are big and plentiful.

Hi everyone I just started growing basil and they keep drooping. I water them and everything I’m thinking I need to freshen them by taking out the small wilted ones. Any help will be great!

Sooo I just trimmed the runners off of my potted strawberry plants. My plants grew like two strawberries and then stopped flowering. Then I noticed all of this new growth happening - the runners. I let a few of them get established, but today I went out and trimmed them all off in hopes of maybe getting a few more berries this year, or at least next season the mother plant will be more focused on berry production. My question is, will what I did with the runners work? I placed the few that had already established roots into another pot and just barely covered the roots with soil, leaving all of the leaves uncovered. I mean, I planted them super shallow. Is this going to work?! Should I do anything differently? I threw the rest of the runners that hadn’t quite grown any roots yet in my back yard along the fence. Would they have a chance of rooting into the ground naturally or will they just rot there on the ground where I tossed them? Lol it’s my very first time growing strawberries and I’m new to this whole gardening thing in general anyway so any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Our tomatoes we grew from seeds—but where are the tomatoes? I took everyone’s advice and repotted my tomato plant, but it is definitely in shock.

Harvesting some of the biggest sunflower heads I’ve ever seen. My sunflowers don’t grow the tallest but they max at 12 feet and grow humongous flowers. And in turn? Massive amounts of seeds. All full and ready to eat. Only a few will be eaten. The majority goes into my seed collection. Going to need a bigger bucket!

Anyone have a guess at what these seeds are? I think they’re all different and I’m pretty sure they’re all vegetables.
