Ssooo I started my garlic a week from now and I’m super excited that it’s going well. Especially for my first time. Any suggestions on how to keep my soil healthy??

      Okay. I have a pot with drainage holes at the bottom. Is that what you’re talking about? I’m still very new to gardening lol

      No worries! Yes, a pot with drainage is key! You also need to make sure your soil is able to drain well. A mix of 50/50 potting soil, perlite and/or vermiculite is perfect for making sure water & oxygen can flow easily through the soil, but also prevents it from becoming packed down or waterlogged which can lead to root rot, pests, and other issues - or worse, can kill your plant. Think of it like making your soil chunkier so it doesn’t smother those roots & allows oxygen to reach them & keep them healthy! I’d also recommend using bti drops or mosquito bits for your house plants as needed to prevent pests from infiltrating your plants & soil. There is tons of info online about these products & it’s definitely worth it to take preventative measures & keep pests out of your home. ☺️🌱

      Now that I think of it, don’t use mosquito bits on any edible gardening. There are food safe bti drops for use on edible plants so just be sure to do your research when purchasing if you decide to, & always follow measurements & instructions. Just wanted to add that since we are talking about garlic! 🖤🖤☺️

    What kind of garlic did you use? I tried to do this with a hard neck garlic and it didn’t work right. I must of done something wrong.

      I used soft neck. I placed tooth picks in some of the bulbs and had it hovering over a glass of water so just the bottom was getting watered
