Alright guys not gonna lie I procrastinate a LOT but 3 questions 1. Do I grow watermelon or pumpkin 2. Do I grow pineapple or avocado 3. Should I grow a sweet potato ( all from kitchen scraps)

    Watermelons take about 100 days to grow. Pumpkins take about 120. Pineapple needs 3years before it’ll fruit. Avocado grown from seed needs up to 5 years for fruit. Sweet potato will also take about 120 days. So my votes for tomato that’s half grown because I need instant gratification, not long term goals 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Sweet potatoes are a good option because their vines are pretty too, so they make an attractive container plant while they're growing. Bonus, I kept finding a praying mantis in mine; I think she liked it in there.

    I currently have avocado and pineapple from kitchen scraps. Both are super easy but your climate will dictate longterm success. Both need lots of light and space as they mature. I’m hoping to get fruit from pineapple this year. One thing to note if you do avocado, skip the toothpicks and jar of water. Wrap it in a damp paper towel stick it in a plastic sandwich bag but don’t seal it shut…pop it in a warm dark cupboard or drawer (I use an antique sewing box) and leave it alone. Check it in 10-12 days and you should have roots. Wait until there are a few lateral roots before putting it in soil.

    In my opinion it’s kind of a waste to grow avocado from seed. You really have no idea what kind of fruit you’re going to get if any at all. I would suggest if you really want to grow from seed to graft onto the seedling with a variety that you want.

    Watermelon and pumpkin are both HUGE plants, but if you're going for it, pumpkin is very easy and more versatile for different recipes (you WILL end up with too many of them). Between pineapple and avocado, I'd go pineapple; it's pretty decorative while you wait for fruit. All forms of potato are super easy to do. Tomatoes, onions, and carrots are also great for starting from kitchen scraps
