   Basically. Plants need nutrients just like us and once they use up what’s in the soil they’ll need more added. Unfortunately not all fertilizers are balanced causing more harm than good if not applied properly. That’s why I recommend a phytoplankton based soil enhancement. No risk of burn! And can be used in hydroponics as well.

   Yes, fertilizer is plant food. Like how vegetables are people food. It’s used interchangeably. You just have to find a fertilizer specific to your kind of plant.

     Since you put this under the edible gardening group, I assume you’re specifically thinking of fertilizer for your food plants. So just in case this helps, I’ll add a picture of the one that I’ve used for a few years with great success. Also, in case it helps for you to know, I use the matching container garden soil for the last few years with great success.😊
