Why are my peppers brown on the bottom? They are “Aruba” variety (cubanelle). I water daily, because otherwise the plant wilts. I fertilize monthly.

    Could be a fungus infection, root rot or not getting enough nutrients. What's the inside look like

      Inside looks fine, just brown on the part that’s also brown on outside. Root rot might make sense because I give the plant 1.5 qts of water a day, but if I don’t water it daily then the plant looks like it’s dying. It perks back up after watering every day

    I only water my peppers every 2-3 days and use liquid fertilizer every 3rd week

      do they not wilt on the off days? I live in zone 7 and it’s been about 90 degrees every day. Or do you let them wilt?

    Im in zone 9A with temps 98-115 by my acurite

      Oh wow. Well I’ll try to stop watering every day and see what happens. I just get nervous when the plant wilts so drastically

      It is important to remember that many plants will wilt from the heat, even if they have plenty of water. You need to check the soil before watering.

    Try repotting useing mother earth soil you can get it at Walmart 8qt. for 9 bucks

    I have that problem too my peppers can’t get red bc they get spots or browning. My whole plant is wilting even too.

      Looks like you've got a lot of runners. I'd say prune it, cut half the peppers off or all the ones with spots, and add nutrients to it because them yellowish leaves are a clean sign it's not getting enough nutrients

      I'd also recommend repotting into a bigger pot

      Thanks so much. I’ll try to get the nutrients for the plant and roots. I’m not sure about the bigger pot. It already is a hassle to carry it in for the winter.
