HELP - Total newbie/accidental pumpkin parent here! I usually kill all plants so the fact the pumpkin started by one rotting last year is meant to be right?! So I am trying hard. I found this app! That’s how much I’m committing. We love Halloween so it’s perfect. HOWEVER, I have ants everywhere on my baby!! Should I be concerned? If so, what is your best solution for ants? **please ignore the rest of bed I’m still working to weed**
3 things you can do, depends on how spicy the approach you can handle. First and most easiest of all, lay ant traps outside of your growing area (such as rain can’t soak into the trap and disperse the chemicals into your garden) but close enough to attract. *These can be made at home with far less deadly chemicals and the same effectiveness, YouTube home made ant traps. 2. Purchase neem oil, and dilute with water according to packing instructions in a garden sprayer and apply to your plant, this will dissuade the ants. Thirdly and most spiciest of all, locate the ant hive and have a bucket with vinegar/water (some people use soap, I would only use soap if your not reusing the dirt) next to you, dig it up and dump in the bucket, leave out for a night to kill ants, then neutralize with baking soda and compost.
