Hi, I’m very new to ‘growing my own’ and two days ago I purchased a sizeable Cherry Tomato Tumbler plant from a garden centre. It was potted in a hanging basket. Later that day it looked a bit wilted and Planta said it was water-logged. I did as suggested and set it on some kitchen towel but it was looking worse the next day! Meta AI and Chat GPT said put it in a sink with water as it’s flowering and needs loads of water. It looks terrible. 😢 I personally think the pot may be too small as there appears to be five main stalks going into the soil. Has anyone any experience with this type of tomato that can advise me what to do? 🥴

    I’ve been growing cherry tomato’s for 3 years and what works is you stick you’re finger two inches in the soil and if it’s dry you water it if it’s still wet you don’t

    do not use generative ai. it's incredibly harmful to the environment. it pollutes air and poisons drinking water, and raises temperatures around data centers enough to disturb wildlife and affect the ecosystem. if you care about plants you need to care about the wild ones, too. if you feel the leaves, are they soft or crispy? is there any browning yet? if so a picture would be wonderful. this is a watering issue for sure but i'm not 100% on which one.

    Thank you. I set it in my utility room sink with water and left it overnight. It’s now looking much better so it was definitely a watering issue, although I think it may need moved to a larger pot as there are a number of main stems going into the pot.

    Yeah , given the size of the plant and the pot you have it in , I would totally check to see if it's root bound or not as well. Look at the bottom, do you see roots? You can also loosen soil from edges by squeezing pot sides together and take plant out to have a quick look!
