What would be the easiest fruit or veggie to get started with? And how? I'm new, but I want to start growing my own stuff!

I’m in zone 8 and tomatoes are a good start or herbs
2 J'aimeTomatoes, peppers (sweet/mild/spicy), and herbs (basils, sage, fennel, sweet marjoram, thyme) are good first time plants. These need more floor room or a trellis/structure: Peas, beans, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, melons, potatoes, turmeric, rosemary, and lemongrass. Planting chives, shallots, scallions and onions around the beds or nearby in pots discourage critters. My starter turmeric bought at the grocery store’s produce section is shown in a 1” layer of soil. The ones in full bloom are red turmeric (curcuma), ornamental. Both varieties put out ginger like flowers and prefer shade in the middle of the day. They need garden space or a 5 gallon bucket if you want to reap crops. I grow them for the flowers.
0 J'aimePeas and carrots are easy
0 J'aimeTomatoes are great tried them for the first time and they are 2 months old first flower just bloomed they kinda take care of them selves as long as you prune every few months and water when needed oh and jalapeños for fruits I think strawberries are easy

0 J'aimeI started with a simple salsa garden in a big pot. Tomato, jalapeño, Mexican oregano, basil, and CUlantro. It can take the heat better than CIlantro
