hello hive mind! i need advice my bean finally sprouted (and it honestly happened overnight- this was also not the bean that i thought was gonna explode like this!!!) and now im thinking of what to do with it. the last time i had sprouts, we had a heat wave with high UV and i cooked them accidentally under the humidity dome. this time, ive kept them inside but on a windowsill that has direct sun in the afternoon. QUESTION: now that bean B has sprouted, do i keep it inside or remove the humidity dome and move it outside? Southern Ontario is going through a crazy heat wave rn (Canada Day yesterday capped out at 39C but felt like 47C🥵). i dont want to cook this bean now that its finally growing, but i also dont want to ruin it by keeping it inside. thoughts?????? pic of the bean in question as well as my cooked ones from last time for tax (not all beans)

    That’s a tough question! If I had my heart set on transferring it to the garden/ground I would definitely put some sort of sunshade over the sprouts so it doesn’t burn up while acclimating outside. Personally I would keep it inside until secondary leaves emerge. At that stage I would set the cup out in the garden with a sun shade over it, keeping moist for a few days to a week, if it survives that, then transplanting into the ground keeping the sunshade for a week, then if it looks good and thriving potentially removing the shade. I had beans in a garden plot Zone 9B. I’ve also sown directly before in zone 8 on the west side of a fence and on the south side of a house with success. Hopefully someone else with more recent bean experience can chime in.

    You probably should have kept them outside, just in shade. It is very late in the season to plant out things, but beans have a very short life cycle so you should be fine. I would move it outside on a milder day and keep it in shade, then partial shade

    I keep my beans outside without a humidity dome. So it should be fine without one. Just watch out if any slugs, snails or caterpillars appear.
