Hi there! Novice gardener here in southern Wisconsin. Any tips for how to start an outdoor patio garden? I am in an apartment so my deck is small-south facing. Thinking of growing lettuce, kale, cherry tomatoes, herbs, jalapeños and snack sized cucumber (if I have room!) I’ll take all the recommendations I can get to maximize space (railing planters, narrow towers) 🥰

If space is an issue, avoid the cucumbers; even a smaller variety is still a massive plant; the pea family is more manageable as far as vining plants go. For herbs, avoid fennel since it gets pretty large. Be sure to use high quality soil to get the best results
