My mint is struggling and I don’t know why! I tried the Dr Planta diagnose twice and it says overwatered, but I followed all the steps and it’s only getting worse. The soil is still damp and it gets lots of light. A few hours of direct and a few hours of indirect sunlight in total about 9 hours a day. If light is the issue, I could move it to have direct or indirect sunlight all day if needed. But I’m not sure which one to try. Should I fertilize?

How long have you had it? It looks fairly young to me. The amount of sun sounds reasonable the but the more light you can give it the better. The cuttings look like they want more light. Mint is a water hog but, if it’s a young plant you might consider being a little tight with the water until it sends out more roots. Mine tends to slow down or just outright stop in the winter so if you’re in the northern hemisphere you might be experiencing that too.

Ok thanks so much!! It is very young, I bought the small plants from the store and repotted them. I am in FL but moved here from Canada so I’m trying to adjust my gardening lol I’ll try with less water and more light and see what happens. Thanks again

Outside should be fine. Oh and I wouldn’t fertilize this year. The soil it’s in probably has more than enough goodness for now. Mint is basically a weed and seems to do better in leaner soil. I typically topdress mine with compost and worm castings in the spring when it wakes back up. I have also read fertilizing can diminish the taste.

My mint loves water. I water it every other day. If I miss a day, it starts to keel over. I think it would be very hard to overwater, but I suppose it’s possible! Maybe try a smaller pot? Mine is in a very small pot for now.
