What size are the pumpkins when fully grown. Large carving pumpkins need 4 warm months to mature. I’m not sure about the mini pumpkins. Are you planning on growing in containers outside in full sun? They need at least 6 hours of full sun daily. They also need lots of water, fertilizer and lots of potting soil (half whiskey barrel) or at least a 20 gallon pot with excellent drainage to prevent root rot. Plus, they need room for running vines or a sturdy trellis.

Okay!! I was planning on keeping them inside for the winter and putting them out in late spring/early summer. The pumpkins in this picture are the ones you would normally carve for Halloween. (I took the seeds from my own pumpkins.) I also have 2 other varieties going right now which are a Casper pumpkin and a white and orange. (Not sure of name)

I didn’t know you could keep pumpkin plants inside for winter!😃 I learned something new! My uncle grew pumpkins on his farm in the Midwest (USA). He planted the seeds May/June for a September/October harvest.

Carving pumpkins take up a LOT of space. I have a 5’x16’ raised bed and it took up the entire bed and went into its neighboring bed too. I found mine very easy to grow by just making sure they were watered. If you put them in the ground too early you’ll have pumpkins in August instead of October. I usually wait till May (New England) to plant my seeds so I have them for October. I had to pick one early in September because it got too big and I could t lift it up the hill to my front stoop.
