Name: Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) Description: Coriander is a herb that produces both an herb (the leaves) and a spice (the seeds). The leaves, also known as cilantro, are flat and delicate with a vibrant green color, while the seeds are round and yellowish-brown in appearance. Taste: Coriander leaves (cilantro) have a fresh, citrusy, and slightly peppery flavor. The seeds have a warm, aromatic, and slightly citrusy taste with a subtle sweetness. History: Coriander has been used in various ancient cultures like those in Egypt, Greece, and Rome. It was highly valued for both its culinary and medicinal properties and has been an integral part of global cuisines for centuries. Scientific Finds: Studies suggest that coriander contains antioxidants and has potential anti-inflammatory properties. It has been investigated for its potential benefits in digestion, cholesterol management, and as a source of certain nutrients. How to Care for It: Sunlight: Coriander thrives in full or partial sunlight. It prefers around 4-6 hours of sunlight daily. Watering: high need, prefers slightly moist soil but not waterlogged conditions. Soil: Well-drained soil is essential for coriander. It grows well in loamy or sandy soil that's fertile and slightly alkaline with a pH range of 6.2-6.8. Uses: - Aromatherapy: Coriander essential oil is used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation and ease stress. - Culinary: Both the leaves (cilantro) and seeds are used in various dishes worldwide, especially in Latin American, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisines. Cilantro is often used as a garnish or in salads, salsas, and curries, while coriander seeds are a popular spice in soups, stews, and pickling. - Home Decor: Coriander plants can be grown both indoors and outdoors, adding a touch of greenery and freshness to home environments. - Health and Wellness: Coriander is considered a source of nutrients and antioxidants, potentially aiding in digestion and providing mild anti-inflammatory benefits. It has also been used traditionally for its potential cholesterol-lowering effects. But the most important thing when it comes to Coriander, do you love it or hate it?

Wonderful herb. Love it! Nothing like fresh cilantro in salsa. But every plant I’ve ever cared for makes a career out of bolting. No amount of pinching discourages it. My life is hard 😉
