Help! I know my cucumbers need bees but I don’t like them and I’m highly allergic. How can I get rid of them?

  1. Roundshouse Plants

You need bees for all the flowering plants. That's how you get the cucumbers to grow. The bright flowers on the plant are easy for the bees to see so they come to pollinate the plant. They get the pollen stuck on their feet/bodies and when they jump to the next flower, they deposit the pollen, essentially fertilizing the plant for you. If you're allergic I would recommend keeping epi with you at all times (allergy nurse here 🙋🏽‍♀️) and do your watering and pruning at night when the bees are asleep. Make sure to prune back the really big leaves so that the bees can find the flowers more easily and have less places to hide if you need to tend to the plant.

Thank you. The cucumbers have been there since spring. The past 2 days have been ridiculous.

Try watering at night or very early in the morning when it’s dark
