I am lost with these tomato plants. They are growing well and seem to be healthy except today I found the base of most of them look like this. I am new to growing tomatoes and have no idea. It doesn’t appear to be horn worms. I have googled for hours and haven’t had much luck. I thought maybe new roots tarting to grow above soil but that sounds crazy to me. Any ideas?

Thank you! I haven’t watered in weeks. We have had SO much rain. We get maybe 1-2 day break and then it rains again for a week. It’s also cold for June here. It has only been in the 60-70’s.

Can you shelter it from more rain? Sorry didn’t mean to infer that you were the one over watering nature tends to do that for us lol. There are things for over watering like agitating the soil or removing any Peat moss and so on. Boomerang or liquid karma also can help.

Yes! Those are new roots! When you replant tomato’s into the ground you plant them pretty deep about 2-3 inches deeper than you had them before. So this is your tomato plant telling you it’s almost time to plant to the ground

Thank you, i have them in a 15 gallon fabric grow bag on my deck. My dogs Love to eat cherry tomatoes so in the ground isn’t an option if I want to keep them for myself

The same thing happened to me so moved the pot to more sun light and gave it some more water the hole was fixed but the leaves were brown so I pruned the leaves and my tomato plant is now growing
