hi y'all! i'm a college student stuck in an apartment building with no sort of patio or deck. is there anything edible (besides herbs) i could grow inside? my living room and kitchen get a ton of good sunlight and i have some space for bigger floor pots!

Micro greens and bean sprouts are very easy indoors and probably will not require supplemental lighting. Citrus is super fun. I’d recommend Meyer Lemons. You’ll have to pollinate the flowers to get any fruit. If you want to experiment, you can try cherry tomatoes. Both the citrus and tomatoes would need grow lights. Good luck!

I’ve heard that peppers and tomatoes do really well inside! I plan on moving my peppers inside when the time comes.

idk, but im thinkin maybe garden plants that would do ok with both cooler indoor temps & less strong sunlight than they would get outside? that would mean cooler & shadier plants that you would normally grow in spring/fall outdoors. You could try lettuce, hmm.... these are tentative but perhaps spring peas on a small trellis or cage so they dont sprawl everywhere? cabbage or collards? maaaybe carrots? i know this is a herb and it likes to be wet but i always plant violets/violas with these crops in the spring! you might need a grow light for some of those but you could try it! best of luck 💚✨🌿
