Greetings I’m trying my hand at starting tomato plants indoors prior to moving to garden in May. Germinating went great and after trying a window sill for first few days, seedlings needed more sun. I picked up a pair of T8 style full spectrum LED grow lamps hanging over current setup in rewired shop light. They are made by GT-Lite (Menards) and manufacturer has no instructions. After contacting manufacturer, they were clueless, and suggested contacting a botanist. It can’t be that complicated? Each bulb is 17w LED (34w equivalent) full spectrum, 5K kelvin Other manufacturers say anywhere from 8-24” from plant. Anyone have experience with this?

    More light the better. That’s not that powerful of a grow light so I’d say keep them close. I start my peppers under a 20w grow light and keep it 6-8” from the seedlings and they do great.

      Thank you Ryan. I’ve lowered them substantially (6-7”)and seedlings are responding well. Lamps are barely warm when operating, so heat shouldn’t be an issue. Much appreciated!
