Last year none of the plants i started from seed grew or produced. But this year I sowed directly into my garden bed instead of seed starting pellets and i'm very happy to report I actually have growth!! Carrot, Snap Peas and Borage all peaking through the soil!
yaaay! though, to avoid all of this, i cannot recommend transplantation enough. i start my seeds indoors and then move to soil as growing season approaches. i soak the seeds in straight hydrogen peroxide for about 30 minutes to prevent any molding or fungus, then a 24h soak in water to boost chances of germination, and then i place them in wet paper towel in a plastic bag and forget about it for like two weeks. once they've sprouted their first root i move them to soil, or else they grow into the towel and you have to tear them out. here's my sweet pepper sprouts from last week as my credentials lol. nearly all 16 sprouted, but one bag was slow so they're going in soil anyways.
