I just bought my first strings of pearls I’m super excited! Does anyone have any tips?
Pictured here in glory and in death is Sixteen Bucks. This was my first Copiapoa, purchased on Etsy last year from a seller with a deceptive listing. “Pictured with the pot it is in” and then “ships bare root” and some other contradictory info you would still have to mentally negotiate to understand it comes sans pot. I believe I used the sentence “why would I pay $16 for a rootless nub?” I mean, I will pay that again at some point I’m sure, but that’s not the point lol. So, goodbye. It is half the diameter as when I started. I see one tiny little thing happening underneath, which could be a child or mold; the babies on another of my Copiapoa were exactly the green and white color spectrum generally represented by mold; if you were told to draw mold, that’s how the gooey, forming children appear.
#1,2,3,4,5,6,7 = Hens and Chicks DONE!! Tray #2 (I understand there are duplicates)
Who wants to play Name That Succulent?? How fun! I am a brand new plant parent and got all these guys on clearance at the grocery for $7.99 (both trays) but don’t know what they are. When I scan them with the app I get Mexican Snowball 75% of the time. I suspect I have figured some of them out, but an experienced green thumb is always better. Any help would be much appreciated. Tray # 1
Hello! Can anyone tell me what type of cactus he is? Thank you! His original pot said “Notocactus Elegans” but nothing came up in this app for that.
Succulent Sharing Saturday! This is P.C. my Pencil Cactus. (Or also known as Fire-stick Cactus if you can get the right combination of cooler fall weather and less sun. Hard to do in Philadelphia normally.) I got P.C. In 2001 from a small grocery store window. I thought “Awe how cute. A mini Cactus with its arms up like a big Arizona Cactus. Well I had no idea what this guy turns into. By 2022 Spring he was all over the place, huge and sprawling. I hated it. By Summer 2022 I gave him a severe haircut back to his slim shape. I also gave him a new pot at the time. 3 weeks later the Grimm Rooter came, the equivalent of the Grimm Reaper for humans but the Grimm Rooter comes for plants. P.C. was dying because he was drowning in his new pot. Not enough perlite. I changed out the dirt and he recovered. As for the Grimm Rooter I told him he could take the African Violets that had become a pain to maintain. Summer 2023 and P.C. got a new pot. He loves being outside May thru October, maybe even to November if it’s nice out. I just need to find a stylist for the crazy growth and look. I can’t go through another trim with me feeling like I’m Joan Crawford cutting Christina’s hair because it has setting solution. Two original pics and two now pics.
After some research, I decided that it would be better to propagate my jade plant cutting in soil rather than water. So after letting it callous, I stuck it in some soil for 2 weeks but nothing happened.. (it was succulent soil so it might've just been too dry?) BUT 2 days ago I caved and stuck it in water and this is already the result! For succulents I am usually a soil propagator so I don't know much about water prop or how long this will last but very excited 😆
Omg I’m freaking out. I think my Calandiva drowned. It rained in Texas pretty hard this week and I completely forgot I had repotted her and left her outside the day before (It rained Wednesday). I left her outside thinking the sun would “dry” her out and everything would be okay, but now I’m not so sure. I brought her in and she looks pretty droopy, the soil is definitely VERY moist. What do I do???!
Needing advice! I’ve had a sting of pearls plant for almost a year and I love it and yesterday i got a variegated sting of pearls, which i already love! I assumed the care for it would be the same but the app is telling me i should water the variegated one every 3 weeks as opposed to every 2 weeks i’ve been watering my other ones. Is this correct? Please help 😭
What kind of plant is this ?
I received this plant like this in the mail:/ Any tips?
My pride and joy! The photo on the left is when I got it a little over 2 years ago and the right photo was a few days ago 💙
🌿new pots for my plants! 🌿
So the string of pearls in the terra cotta pot used to be about 3 feet of the drape of the SOP in the small blue pot and one day I found it in a heap on the floor, it was so heavy it just fell away from the plant😱 so I just took it and circled it in the terra cotta pot and it has done amazingly well!
A few more of my project today…
Aloe 1 and Aloe 2 looking happy and healthy!
That time of year to start bringing in the succulents and repotting before winter. I have a Mexican Snowball, jade “Gollum”, Aeonium, Lions tail agave baby. They’ve all been thriving together in a mixed outdoor container. And this is just the start!
Hello all. I need some help with my sedum plant. It has weak, droopy stems and I can’t figure out why. I believe it is supposed to be an upright variety, though I could be wrong. It’s in a south-facing plant window. Is the pot too deep? I find myself snoozing Planta often for this plant because the soil is still moist.
My aloe seems to be doing very well - it’s even growing a mini baby little aloe. but there is a spot that i’m unsure of. i asked dr planta and it said not enough light but it currently sits under a patio (outside) with a roof over its head. does anyone know what this spot is?
Hello! Does anyone know or have an idea of what kind of cactus this is? Planta’s ID never seems to feel quite right.
