(Writing this post made me itchy.) I recently watched a clip that deals with mold in columnar cactus. The guy showed an example of Peruvian Apple cuttings done with non-sanitized knife. From underneath, black mold outlined the ribs to resemble a black star. I rolled my eyes and glanced over at the re-homing project I did a few months ago. I beefed it up, but mistakes are the only way I learn big lessons. If the task were âget this plant to root,â mission accomplished. I cut the top ten inches off the dying father (Mando The First), potted, and look at these roots! I used an antique saw to cut this. Last month, little spots of mold appeared on some spines. I sprayed it a few times like it was do or die - which it was. The plant had other unidentifiable issues, though. Last straw was last nightâs full-on submersion/bottom watering. What are those white specks? It could be pearlite or sand or dust. Hey, I cleaned those off and more appeared ten minutes later. He was full of eggs (Mealy Bugs, right?) Now I know who keeps passing those eggs around. Who âkept.â I initially repotted, left him out for a night, but I am also, like, worried about my and my dogsâ health, you know? Throwing this one out sucked so much, but $15 is a good price to learn a super valuable lesson on âDude, follow SOME of the rules.â He goes to the landfill to join his other 20 friends who didnât make it. I wonder what would happen if I made tea out of this. Would I turn into semi-conscious mold?
This is my new lil cactus it is very cute and I just picked it up today please say if there is anything I really need to know about this specific cactus.
Does anyone know the names of these succulents? I've had them for over a year but want to know them better. (They recently got new pots that are not the ones in the photos for better drainage and they get plenty of light, were watered after these photos i love them)

I have had pretty good luck propagating succulents from leaf cuttings, but one of my echeveria has a plantlet growing and I have no idea how to take it off and help it grow. Any help would be appreciated so much!

So Iâve taken some leaves off a Burroâs Tail succulent my friend has (with her permission) in hopes of getting it to grow more for me. I waited a few days for it to callus, but I didnât really see any difference except it wrinkling slightly. I then watered a pot of succulent soil and I put the cuttings on top. Am I on the right track so far? What do I do after this?
Do all succulents need a lot of sun? #help Iâm a beginner
just got my first grow lights. Hoping these help a bit đ
I have an echeveria I purchased online about two months ago who appears to be spontaneously deteriorating. It looks like itâs been overwatered, however when it started dropping leaves it hadnât been watered for 21 days and its soil and roots were bone dry. I figured why not try giving it some water and see what happens but even more leaves turned yellow-brown/translucent. I have it planted in a shallow pot (with drainage, under a grow light with three other echeverias who are all thriving minus some minor etoliation from back when I had the grow light too far away. Anyone know whatâs going on here? Side note, all the leaves that have dropped have been on one side of the plant.
