hello!! first post!!
this is Curtis :D (the smiley is part of his name, legally)
my mom got a bunch of cacti and succulents back in fall of 2021 and deemed me responsible for this guy. i knew he had grown but it’s crazy to see just how big he’s gotten after looking back at the first photo. he’s somewhere between 4 and 5 inches now!!
he’s the first thing i’ve ever had to take care of (hence why i got this app to remind me) and i’m happy to see him grow so much under my care, even after some seemingly scary incidents ;-;
i’m extremely new to plant care and don’t really know what i should be doing so if anyone has an questions, comments, or concerns please share!!! i’m happy to learn and wanna give Curt a happy & healthy life.

Can anyone tell me what succulent this is and how to propogate

I put Sydney inside under a cool indoor light last week, and then…saw some bugs. She had been outside for a while, and she hadn’t been repotted since April 2022 (I made sure to ask the previous owner ha).
The bottom is some shale bits (taken from a trilobite quarry in Delta, Utah) then commercial cact and suc soil, a layer of pumice, put her back in, cover the top with lava rock and some other rocks. I’m not aiming for perfection.
That pot is plastic, but it’s fancy and stays cool in the heat. No need to switch IMHO. I did once drill a drainage hole, but that’s it.
Note that this was inspired today by Planta alerts of hot temperatures. I’ve wanted her inside for a while, anyway.
Note that a bandana will not protect you from these tiny spines. They are not anywhere near as bad as another prickly pear who unloaded so many spines into my leg, hands, arms that I felt temporarily high. Not a good high. Tingly and confused ha.

anyone know what type of cactus this is? I’ve had him for a year or so now and I still have no idea… thinking something of the prickly pear variety?

What kind of succulent is this? And how do I keep it upright? I thought it was jade but the leaves are alternating and don’t have the oily sheen of a jade plant.
