It rained a few days ago & my cacti/succs do get wet since they are not covered by anything. It’s currently raining & according to the forecast more at the end of the week. They are all in a fast draining soil except for my pearls— I guess my question is should I bring them inside for the rainy days when it’s this many in a row??
Hello, I too sometime struggle with this thought and possible problem, that is sometime 🤓. Normally I am very very thankful 🥰 of one 🌧️ or a few 🌧️🌧️🌧️ days of rain as it’s a vacation 🏖️ from daily watering 🚿 of everything when it is not raining 🌇. I would say bulb or tuber types of plants are normally the only plants which I personally worry about with too much rain water. Right now the outdoor plants which I have any concern about are my amaryllis bulbs in pots and my bearded iris’s in pots. Too much water, even in great drainage have rotted bulbs and tubers. The only other thing I look for after long rain spells is erosion. If a pot became full of water, quicker than could drain, then dirt may have washed out of top of the pot or bottom if the pot, so some new soil may be needed. As for cactus and succulents though. Let them be. If it looks stressed then move it

It’s up to you. If you are able to provide an elevated surface with lots of airflow where they can be sheltered from the rain and still receive direct sun that would be ideal. If not, it’s not worth the risk leaving them out because the soil must be allowed to dry out. I usually plan a week or so before bringing my cactus inside, I look them over thoroughly for pests and treat with a solution of 5ml concentrated neem oil, 10ml Dr. Bonners pure Castile soap with 1.5 quarts water in a pump spray bottle. Maybe more than you wanted to know but it’s not worth having to later treat a major outbreak happening inside. 💚

1 like 😊 sometimes yes. Neem oil is great but it can hurt our plants and sometimes isn’t even necessary. This solution is a multipurpose treatment and preventative for relatively healthy plants exhibiting bacterial fungal issues and pest pressures. It should be enough to cover the entire surface of the plant and repeated every 1-2 weeks until the pests or fungal issues have improved. If the plant has been sick, hanging on by a thread due to neglect.. severe lack of water and nutrients, it simply doesn’t work. When needed, something I forgot to mention crucial to this is mixing with warm/luke water and not treating plants in the hot afternoon sun. It can be done early morning but aim for late afternoon, early evening. This is to prevent potential or likely burning on foliage plants or the bodies of cacti and of course we shouldn’t forget about the beneficial bugs/pollinators that are most actively roaming around during the heat of the day. Indoor plants can be treated at anytime.
