Hi guys! So i’m a new succulent mom and I fear I went a little in over my head with a Snowflake Aloe Vera & I was wondering if this is a result of root rot? I am utterly heartbroken, when i was checking my plants, I noticed this little guy barely hanging on and when i touched it, it kinda just softly came off in my hand. But everything looks healthy so Im confused. Thank you in advance!

I don't think this is necessarily a sign of root rot. Typically, you don't want to have the base of the leaves under the soil level. So I think that leaf rotted at its base and came off. The one next to it may also come off. It does not necessarily mean you're going to lose the whole plant. Brush the soil away from that bottom leaf and see if it's getting Brown, you may want to just remove it since it's a little bit under the soil. Or just leave it and see what happens. If you're still worried about it it wouldn't hurt to tip it out of the pot and look at the roots.

Thank you! A brown spot sort of flaked off the bottom a little bit so I’m gonna keep an eye on her but i’ll definitely take her out and look at those roots if that brown comes back

If you are thinking about changing the growing mix to something that won’t hold too much water, I discovered Molly’s. The cactus and succulents love it.

I found my sidewinder aloe at Walmart of all places about a month and a half ago. $6 for a medium size! Worth a shot to peek. I love it and it’s been going strong for me.
