I need to replant my string of pearls. I got a shallow dish. I’m going to lay them on top of the soil. But what soils should I use? Should I make my own. Is store bought sufficient? I have regular sold, orchid mix, and succulent soil on hand.

Is the succulent soil peat based? Or sand based? If its sand, id just use that like 2/3 and 1/3 regular soil.

If its peat based, and heavy on the peat, it might retain too much water. I only use peat-free succulent/cactus mixed as its counter intuitive to their needs

I recommend some gravel/akadama at the very bottom of the pot to help with drainage and prevent root rot
