Hi there! I have this Haworthia and I donât believe itâs doing as well as when I bought it. I havenât repotted it and it makes me wonder if the moss is doing more harm than good. Any advice?

I would think the moss would tend to hold in moisture, which is bad for succulents. I would remove it, but you might want to wait for a response from someone with more experience. Good luck!
2 gillningarI agree with the above. This is a succulent and needs/likes to dry out completely. The moss will definitely be keeping it too moist. I would repot in a succulent mix with extra perlite. It also looks like your pot potentially has no drainage? This is another big no-no for succulents. So I would get it into something that will allow the water to drain out. You want your pot about 1â larger than the root ball for this little guy, so donât go big.
2 gillningarWell, another thing worried me. I did just repot it, however it barely has any roots. Iâm not sure how to proceed forward with trying to get the roots to grow.
0 gillningarHmmm, barely any roots and the way it looks isnât a great sign. Definitely remove the moss. What type of soil did you use? If itâs holding too much moisture youâre better off repotting asap regardless of the shock it might cause as it will rot away what little roots it has left. If youâre confident with the soil mixture then just be patient, give it lots of light, and water only when completely dry.
0 gillningarI donât know what soil it was in previously, but I put in a cactus, palm, and citrus mix
0 gillningarFirst I would do some research of the type of soil it needs and a good size pot to replant it in. It could be growing new roots and need a bigger living space. You could also look to see if the moss does good or harm, but I donât think the moss is anything bad. Might need a replant, as well as more water and sun? How much are you watering it, and how much sunlight does it get?
0 gillningarItâs in my east facing window and I water it according to the app.
0 gillningarIt looks a little red at the base layer, this is because of too much direct sun, maybe put it in a shadier place for recovery. Try repotting as well. You should place it in a bring spot but not super bright. Water it once a week in the summer. During winter water very sparingly.

Hi, How often does the app tell you to water it?

i bought one just like this and it was glued to the bottom with the mossâŠ. so weird. i didnât touch it for months and it looked pretty rough. bounced back pretty quickly after repotting! looking much healthier these days and even has some new growth since this pic ~a month ago! if yours doesnât have drainage, def get it out of there and give it some well draining soil and a home with drainage!
