I just got this Haworthiopsis limifolia, and I am new to plants, just wondering if the brown bit on the plant is a sign of a problem.

Can’t really see too well the picture is blurry, but are you talking about brown bits at base of leaves?
0개 좋아요Yeah the brown parts at the base
0개 좋아요How frequently are you watering this plant?
0개 좋아요If it doesn't feel mushy I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe gently prod at the brown spot with ... Something you can get down in there ... If it is mushy return the plant, if not you should be fine. Make sure when you water it to drain the cover pot so the plant does not sit in water.

0개 좋아요This type of coloration is normal for these plants at the base of the leaves. If the leaves start to dry out from not enough water, it will start at the tips and the leaves will start to harden more and will become less plump as the moisture leaves the inner gel tissue. This will happen in a receding direction from tip to base. And it will be very slow, so easy to catch and correct befor it gets too bad. If you were over watering and root rot was setting in, you may see the leaves start to turn blackish and the tissue would become loose or smooshy rather than firm.

좋아요 1개What kind of soil do you have it in?
좋아요 1개I like to use a mix of succulent soil, volcanic rock (small pebbles) or pumice, and some coco coir.
