I started noticing that the bottom part of my cactus is turning brownish. I was wondering if it’s normal or too far gone. What can I do to make it look better? I water it every three weeks.

Is it mushy or just brown? Sometimes the difference in color just shows where the prior soil level was but if it’s mushy it’s more than likely rotten :(

Should I stop watering it to see if there’s any improvement?

Yes stop watering and make sure it’s getting lots of light. Cacti are desert plants so they love very very very little water and LOTS of sunlight. If it’s not used to direct sunlight you can slowly acclimate it :)

I would stop watering it for a while and see how it does and place it near or in a window seal. When I water my cacti, I bottom water them so I can’t overwater :)
