My Christmas Cactus, Mariah, is in season! Can someone tell me how to make her bloom?
I have mine in a kitchen window where some sunshine comes thru. And itâs been blooming and new buds coming thru
0 gillningarYou can put it in a dark room for a week or so or make sure itâs totally pitch black at night for at least 10-12 hours. It will trigger them to bloom, they think itâs winter.
0 gillningarThis one is actually a thanksgiving cactus! They can bloom year round with the proper conditions đ€

0 gillningarnot sure what your âyeah i knowâ comment was since youâre asking for advice BUT if it hasnât already started making blooms by this point, it might not do it this year. my thanksgiving cactus will sometimes bloom twice a year. the key is REALLY good light during the growing months, and then a solid dip in light and temperature come fall to trigger blooms
2 gillningarthat close to a south facing is probably too much light â do you have an east or west facing?

My experience with holiday cactus that itâs all about light. Blooming is stimulated by shortening of the days. This mechanism can be interrupted by artificial light âlengtheningâ daylight hours. I donât think your plant is getting too much light because I donât see red segments (anthocyanin). They will get a rosy cast when exposed to too high light.
