Any advice on repotting my jade? I don’t know if he’s ready for a new pot or if I should keep him in this one. He’s growing super fast and seems happy. He’s also a little droopy in some spots - is that from over watering or under watering? Thanks!
Hi there, your jade looks nice! If roots are coming out of the drainage holes, if he is getting too heavy and causing the pot to fall or anything, if his growth has slowed or stopped, or if you can easily pull them out of the pot (with the roots being in the same shape as the pot) I would say it is time for a repot. If not, I think you can wait another year or so. Jade and other succulents like to be somewhat root bound so a pot that’s a little small shouldn’t be an issue. For drooping, I would say it’s most likely over or under watering, although that depends on how often you water him and stuff. I haven’t watered my Jade since March 4 and I still won’t have to for a few more days. Once the soil gets dry, I wait for the bottom leaves to get a little soft and limp, then I’ll water. If the leaves get limp and wrinkly after a watering, it’s probably over watering. I hope this helps a little and isn’t too confusing but I can explain more if anything is!
2개 좋아요That’s so helpful, thanks so much! It sounds like overwatering, I’ve had the leaves get wrinkly before when I’ve left him for longer but sounds like that’s fine to do. I’m going to leave him for now in this pot since I’m not seeing a ton of roots coming out and he’s not top heavy. The growth has definitely not stopped, there are constantly new leaves so he seems to like his current situation.
0개 좋아요 hmm that is a little tricky if roots are growing out of the bottom but he’s still growing fast! If there are definitely roots coming out of the bottom, I would repot now as he might not be able to wait a year. Spring is the best time to repot jade! If the roots are contained to inside of the pot then you can wait.
