I need some help please. I have a pencil cactus that I ordered on Etsy. It was in rough shape when it arrived. It has definitely grown in height as well as width but it is not red as it should be. I’m assuming it needs more light but I read somewhere that this particular cactus does not like direct light. I had a grow light right on it but then read that they don’t like that much light so I moved the grow light up quite a bit. Should I move it back?? Thank you!
I have one outside on my deck and it’s definitely in full sun with no issues. The red color only shows up for me in spring when I put it outside and fades over the winter indoors. It’s one of the easiest plants I own. I literally don’t touch it. Couldn’t tell you the last time I watered it. It’s just living by rain. In fact I usually forget it exists 😅 it flowers in the spring and fall for me. So I’d say stick it somewhere pretty sunny and forget about it.
